A reminder from our co-workers in the Philippines that "life" is not the same for everyone. We who have heard Jesus' words are the ones to take them to those like Paul and Debbie Howells live among in the southern Philippines.
Debbie wrote, "We were woken up to the chilling sound of gunfire again - which sounded close-by. As soon as we heard it we had the heavy feeling in our hearts that someone's life had suddenly and horrifically been ended.
"For the rest of the night our sleep was very fitful and as soon as it started to get light we went out and knew straight away that someone had been killed because there were a lot of people going back and forth on the road.
"Someone soon brought us news that the leader of the village (who was up for re-election) had been walking up the hill to the houses up there to do some late house-to-house campaigning and he had been ambushed on the trail just as he arrived near the houses.
"It was moonlight so the night was bright and there were some enemies hiding behind an outcrop of rocks just beyond the houses. They opened fire on him with automatic weapons.
"We went to visit the family yesterday. It is very sad and very hopeless as he was not saved. Many times Paul had asked this man to come and listen to God's Word but he always said he was too busy. Now it is too late."
Thank you for your partnership with us - through prayer and financial support - as we communicate the need and opportunities to plant churches among unreached people groups around the world.
