ENCOURAGED TO BE HEARD

October 25, 2007

by David Abbott

I use free online communities like MySpace and Facebook as a learning tool for making NTM's online community - myMinistry websites - better.

The general content on MySpace is so inappropriate - even the login and site administration pages - that we don't allow our kids to use the service.

I don't know about you - but when an online community like MySpace is so overrun by moral depravity - I tend to think my voice won't be heard.

It was encouraging to receive this response from MySpace recently:

From: admin@myspace.com
Subject: Report Abuse - Content

Hello,

We have received and reviewed your report of inappropriate content. This content has been removed.

We thank you for your support in helping to keep MySpace a safe and fun community!

MySpace.com

So - if you see something that is wrong - especially by the service's own standards - be encouraged that your voice may make a difference.
