Carrie went home to her Savior just before 8:00PM tonight. All her family were able to be with her ...except for Kristia. Kristia and Caleb got there just about 5 minutes later.
Being there was really important to Kristia - especially since she had been away as a missionary and missed being there for other family members.
Kristia was able to talk in Carrie's ear by phone for a few minutes on the way to the airport and Kristia's Dad said that Carrie's eyelids showed some movement at Kristia's voice.
Dad, John, was able to talk with Carrie shortly before 10:00 this morning - after the doctor told her this would probably be her last day.
Carrie said she was okay with that. She made sure her dad was still okay with her desire not to have doctors try to revive her. John said he was.
After that, Carrie (since she had an oxygen mask on her face) signed "I love you" a couple more times and then drifted off to the sleep from which she did not awake.
Praise God:
Carrie was spiritually prepared to see Jesus face-to-face
Carrie was not in a great deal of pain
Kristia was able to visit Carrie for two weeks recently
Please pray:
that Kristia will be able trust God for His timing in taking Carrie home
for spiritual an emotional strength for Carrie's parents, John and Bonnie
History
Carrie received word October 17th that she has Adenocarcinoma, a type of lung cancer.
On April 25th Carrie was hospitalized for pneumonia. She had been having difficulty breathing over the last couple days.
The results of a PET scan, also on the 25th, revealed new areas of cancer growth.
Since Easter, Carrie had been doing better. She was still frequently nauseated, but not every day. And her lung only needed to be drained every other day.
The speed of her passing has come as quite a shock to everyone.
