A simple oil change turned into a huge project the day before David and the kids needed to leave for a conference in Missouri. The oil filter had seized and refused to come off even after being ripped apart - all the way to the metal plate holding it to the engine block.

And besides that, she did laundry, ironing, cleaned the house and made dinner the same day.
Later that night, Caleb crawled under the hood and held a screwdriver while David hammered away until an improperly installed oil filter finally loosened.
