Darryl and Becky at the Market
Darryl and Becky at the Market

Tuesdays are Market Day!

Each Tuesday villagers hike up to four hours one way to sell their garden vegetables, fruit, and bark capes.  We purchase many items from them so we can "boost" the economy and build relationships.  Rain or Shine, market day is a big social event with people visiting all day.

Often, we can buy cucumbers, sweet potatoes, maize, taro, papaya, pineapples, mandarin oranges, bananas, rice balls, spinach-like greens, and sugar cane.  Size and amount often determine the price.  If we want 2 large cucumbers, it would be the same price as 3 small cucumbers.
