A FLURRY OF PRAYER REQUESTS (October 26, 2008)
Some specifics to pray for, as I get ready to leave on November 18th:
~ That I would rest in the Lord daily.
~ I would love to find a buyer for my car.
~ Increased monthly support - I have @ 30% and am asking the Lord for at least 50% in order to pay my bills. ~ My passport has been sent to the Indonesian Consulate in Chicago, for the visa to be stamped in it. Pray there won't be any complications or unforeseen problems. Previously, I've mentioned needing to find a good storage solution for the items I'm leaving in the States. It is going to be a tight fit, but I plan to try to get everything into a closet, here at my parent's house. Thank-you for praying!! Find out more --

VISA DECISION UPDATE & PRAYER REQUEST (September 17, 2008)
William R. Newell said: “Until we are carried quite out of our depth, to the point of drowning, beyond all of our own wisdom and resources, we will not cast ourselves completely upon the Lord’s Mercy and Grace. Only as everything and everyone fails us and we fail ourselves, do we draw upon abiding strength. ‘Blessed is the man whose strength is in You Lord’; not partly in the Lord and partly in himself. The Lord makes His servant weak, puts him in circumstances that will show him his nothingness that he may rest upon the Strength that is unfailing. It is a long lesson for all of us, but it cannot be passed over until learned.” This is the place I am at! Over the past few weeks I have had many internal conversations with the Lord. (I confess that many of those conversations have included wanting to have all of my ducks in a row NOW!) Making decisions has never been a quick, easy thing for me, and I usually need time to absorb information, toss it around, get other's input, think and pray some more, before coming up with a direction to go in. I’m glad that God is not restricted by time, and that He controls the ducks that just won’t line up when I want them to.
I wanted to let you all know where things are at. I am trusting the Lord to allow me to go ahead with plans for getting to Indonesia in November. I will be going in on a Social/Cultural visa, which will then need to be changed to the normal, semi-permanent visa once I’m in the country. The visa will be applied for on October 1st. Once it is given, I have 60 days to get it stamped into my passport. And once it is in my passport, I will have 90 days to get into the country.
For this all to happen, there are still some pretty big ducks to line up. Thank-you for praying with me!! It has been a very stretching time for me, and not often comfortable, as God asks me to put my confidence in Him alone! (Jer 17:7) I am excited to see how God will glorify Himself through all of this, and am glad to have each one of you on this journey with me!
Psalm 115:1 ~ “Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but to Your name give glory, because of Your mercy, because of Your truth.”

VISA SNAG (September 2, 2008)
On Sunday (8/31) I received word from the Indonesian field leadership - there has been a snag in the visa process. There are only 3 available semi-permanent visas for the 7 of us who are planning to go in November. The 2 options given for the 4 remaining visas are: 1) go in November, as planned, but on a Social/Cultural visa, and work on getting the other visa from there. This option involves needing to renew the Social/Cultural visa several times, and then leaving the country (which means interrupting language study time) once the regular visa is granted. Or 2) wait until sometime after mid-January to go. They had to know by noon EDT yesterday (9/1) which 3 names to give those visas to. I have not heard yet which of the other 6 will be going for sure, but I do know I am not going to be one of the 3. Currently, this looks like an opportunity to continue support raising efforts, if I wait until January to go. However, the field is ready to receive ALL 7 of us in November, to begin our orientation, etc, then. I am counting on your prayers for me, that I would know the mind of the Lord on exactly what He would have me do! I have no doubt that He is able to get me there in November, because He owns the cattle on a thousand hills. If it would glorify Him more for me to hold off going for awhile, I want to do that, too. Please pray specifically that the Lord would increase my support level significantly in the next few weeks. In particular, I will need finances for the plane ticket, visa paperwork, travel for paperwork once I get into the country, and initial set-up costs, as well as language school fees. Talking about the financial end of things is not comfortable for me, but I believe you need to know where I'm at, if you are to effectively pray for me. And I count each of you as a vital part of my team - I can't do this without you!! If you have any questions, or would like further clarification on what is going on, please feel free to email me. And if you know of anyone who would be interested in hearing first-hand about my ministry, please let me know that, too! Thank-you so much for praying! He is able, Dana
