Dore Family Prayer and Praise Update – Fall 2008

Mission Representation Ministry
Thank you for your faithful prayers and support! Without you as partners we would not be able to carry on this ministry. This month we have several good opportunities to share the challenge of reaching the unreached around the world:

This coming weekend via a three-day missions conference in a church in Maine.
The following weekend, via a Sunday morning sermon and field update video in a church in NH.
And then in three weeks via a chapel presentation (MS and HS) in a Christian School in NH.

Please pray for traveling mercies, clear and challenging messages and field updates, and for God’s people to respond to the Spirit’s promptings in their hearts. We all have a part to play in this all-important task of world evangelization.

FROM THE MISSION FIELD
Bible School Student in Guinea:
Our African brother, Camara, who is attending the Bible Institute in the capital city, is now in his third and final year. Please pray for his studies, and the life application of his studies, to be a blessing to him and honoring to the Lord. Pray for his financial needs to be met while finishing his Bible school courses. This is a good opportunity for him to trust the Lord to meet his needs.

Cave demons:
We heard a report from our co-workers in the Landuma tribe that two men were in a cave hunting bats for meat during these lean times before the field harvests come in. One of the men disappeared and hasn’t been seen in two weeks. The villagers believe he is being held by the demons of the cave, and are trying to divine what steps must be followed to appease the demons and secure his release. For devout M. people, it sure seems very superstitious, doesn’t it? Pray for Mamadu’s release, and for this whole situation to point people to their need of salvation through Christ!

En Route to Mozambique:
Our dear friends, Herb and Kerry Jackson, recently shared with us a heart-wrenching prayer request for their daughter Joanna. Joanna and her husband, Curtis Bergman, with their three little children, are en route to Mozambique as full-time missionaries with New Tribes Mission. Last month she found out she had a tumor the size of an orange in her brain. After surgically removing 90 percent of the tumor, doctors told her that it was the worst kind of cancer, would surely grow back, and that she had one to two years to live! What a shock! Please pray for this whole family, and for God’s comfort and healing in these difficult times. Joanna has three married siblings on the mission field with NTM, and two more in the NTM training program: a sister in Bible School, and a brother in the Missionary Training school.

Michael and Nancy Dore:
Our son and his family are now in Oklahoma studying Cherokee again for the linguistics class. They will finish their training with NTM in December, and begin partnership development, then head off to Quebec to study French. After this, they will fly to Guinea to begin the ministry in Africa they have been praying about for these past years! Please pray for them to be encouraged, well-supported (both prayer and financial), and ready to go!

Thank you once again for your fellowship in the gospel!

In Christ Who is Our Life,

Dan and Michelle Dore
