In the midst of continuing evidence that Radio Horeb is making a difference for believers and non-believers, increased costs may force the station in Bolivia to cut broadcasting to six hours a day.
The station broadcasts Bible teaching in the Chimane, Yura, Trinitario, Quechua, and Spanish languages.
"A taxi driver stopped by the other day to thank us for being on the air early in the morning," wrote missionary Bruce Johnson, on staff at the station. "He sits in his car waiting for buses to bring in passengers. We are the only radio station on the air in this area at that time."
"A Chimane fellow came in the other day and was talking to our co-worker about some flooding problems in his area. The radio messages became a part of the conversation. This Chimane came to understand the message of salvation and his need for a Savior and he accepted Jesus as his Savior by hearing the clear messages given by radio," Bruce wrote.
But increased costs mean station personnel are trying to decide whether they need to cut back broadcasting hours.
The station's tower was recently painted and realigned, and the main generator was overhauled. Delays in getting parts for the generator meant the station had to rely on its larger, thirstier backup generator for longer than had been expected, so the station is now running low on diesel fuel just as the funds to purchase more are low as well.
"This has been a ministry of such dependence on God's provision for equipment and cost of running this miracle radio station," Bruce wrote. "I know before I even share the needs we have right now, God is already meeting these needs."
Please pray that funds arrive so the station can continue broadcasting from early morning into the evening. Pray also that if the staff needs to cut hours, God will use that to His glory as well.
