Missionaries in Guinea were in tears last week after one of the 12 boys they are discipling disappeared.
Mamoudou, who at 17 is the oldest of the young disciples, fled the village without telling anyone where he was going or his reason for leaving.
On Monday, when missionary Ron Yearwood went to the city on an errand he ran into Mamoudou and spent most of the evening with him.
"What a relief it was to learn that he was safe," wrote Ron's wife, Heather.
Mamoudou told Ron that he is not in hiding but felt it necessary to get away from his village and the persecution he is feeling.
The intelligent, fun-loving Tanda teenager said he decided to flee after receiving threats from family members as he attended festivities for his brother's wedding. The family was unhappy that Mamoudou was associating with the missionaries and had a desire to be a "Jesus one."
Mamoudou says he wants to follow Christ but is scared of what people may do to him.
Please pray that Mamoudou will experience God in a special way during this difficult period. Pray that his running from persecution will find him running into the safe arms of Jesus.
