Daily Scripture

"Your righteousness is like the great mountains; Your judgements are a great deep; O Lord, You preserve man and beast."

Psalm 36:6

ALMOST READY

Jeremiah Markley

November 21, 2006

by Dena McMaster

Missionaries Ralf and Elisabeth Schlegel are preparing primers to teach the Dinangat people of Papua New Guinea to read. Much preparation has gone into the literacy program.

The Schlegels and their partners Jeremiah and April Markley and Gary and Esther Smith have helped write the Dinangat alphabet and form words.
Two Dinangat men have told short stories to Jeremiah and Ralf to use in the primers and four others will draw pictures for the stories.

The Dinangat men and missionaries are working together to help the Dinangats read and write their own language, preparing them to read and understand God's Word.

Because of a medical emergency Jeremiah and April have left the tribe and Ralf and Elisabeth must prepare all the primers by themselves.

Pray for Ralf and Elisabeth as they work on the materials for teaching the Dinangats to read. Pray also for the Dinangat men who are helping the missionaries prepare the materials.
