MADANG, Papua New Guinea: The Inapang missionary team is gaining a new family. Matthias and Petra Mueller will be moving in next month.
Daniel and Elizabeth Moore and Bill and Kelley Housley have been looking for another family to join their ministry among the Inapangs since another couple on their team had to return to the USA for health reasons.
"We always thought of that team as being some sort of 'heroes' since they live in a very remote, hot and swampy environment with helicopter access only," wrote the Muellers.
After seriously considering the move, the Muellers determined "it doesn't take heroes to go there, just ordinary people who are willing to be obedient to the Lord."
Matthias and Petra arrived in Papua New Guinea three years ago with the desire to be involved in a church planting ministry. While waiting to move into a tribe, Matthias has served his fellow missionaries in the supply department.
The Muellers spent two weeks in the tribe in May. They were warmly welcomed by the people and stirred by the Inapang's desire to hear God's Word.
"It really seems to be evident that God has prepared their hearts for a major change. Everybody is so excited and can't wait to hear the missionaries' story," the Muellers wrote.
The Moores and Housleys have been in the tribe for two years and have made good progress in learning the Inapang culture and language. When proficient in the language they will translate scripture and prepare Bible lessons to begin teaching next year.
Pray that the Muellers will get settled in the tribe and begin making good relationships with the people. They plan to start their official culture and language study in July.
Pray too that the Moores and Housleys will be ready for their next culture and language assessment scheduled in August.
