More than 30 Bena Bena people gathered Monday to hear David Lee and Rich Foster teach the first evangelistic Bible lesson ("How we got the Bible") in the Bena language.
David and Rich were encouraged with the people's interaction and the understanding they showed when answering questions.
Attendance grew to 50 for the Tuesday night meeting.
A 10-year-old boy, Benami, met Rich on the trail Thursday and asked, "Are we meeting to have 'church' tonight?" Being one of the faithful attendees, he was eagerly awaiting the next lesson.
Thursday night, after the lesson, Maki came to work with Rich to do comprehension checks for future lessons. Before they started work, he told Rich, "I just want to thank you for coming. I want to thank you for leaving your home, your family, your things and coming here to do this work for us. You didn't have to do this, but after hearing you teach tonight, and it was so clear, I am just thankful that you came."
Pray for David and Rich as they teach three nights a week -- Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Pray that the lessons will be clear and that God will give the Bena people understanding of His Word.
