Daily Scripture

"Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass."

Psalm 37:5

FROM UNFAITHFUL TO FAITHFUL

Many people have become believers because of X`s life.

November 21, 2008

by David Bell

When missionaries first arrived to minister among the Tala Andig people in the Philippines, Mr. X didn't seem like the type that would some day make a difference among his people.

Though X goes by many names, missionary Josh Moffit has chosen to call him X because he is the village's ex-captain.

X didn't have a good reputation and was unfaithful to his wife, who eventually killed herself, leaving behind four beautiful daughters.

Having four daughters was part of X's problem of unfaithfulness. His wife hadn't given him any sons.

But X did have one quality that endeared him to the missionaries. X was the village captain and while others were against the missionaries moving into the village, saying, "They'll eat our children and throw us all into big pits," X said, "Please come."

X sponsored the missionaries, and although he didn't show much interest in their teaching, a church was born in the village. Today, his four daughters are key women in the church.

After initially sponsoring the missionaries, X moved to his new wife's village, fathered a few sons and faded out of the picture.

But once again God used him to spread the Gospel. He invited Tala Andig Bible teachers to start teaching in his new village and another church was born. This time X listened and believed. He became a Bible teacher and hasn't stopped talking about his Savior.

Last week, he was explaining to his 4-year-old grandson that Jesus is the only one who can repair a broken relationship with God. He then moved on to his teenage nephews, telling them how God changed his life.

Several Tala Andigs have come to believe in Christ because God changed the heart of this once unfaithful man to become a faithful servant.

Please pray that many more will hear the Word of God and come to know Christ because of X's faithfulness.
