A German surgical team is bringing hope to the Banwaon and Manobo people of the Philippines.
Later this month a surgical team from the German-funded Doctor's Hospital will perform around 40 cataract eye surgeries for tribal people.
Wila, 18, and her 5-year-old sister, Angelina, who were both born with cataracts, are two who will benefit from the doctors' services. Wila is currently sick, though, with what could be influenza or malaria. If she doesn't recover in time she may not receive the surgery.
The trip itself will be a challenge as well. "The surgical team will be flown in [one day], and are due to fly out [two days later] with all those eye surgeries in between," wrote David and Helen Johanson. "Two tables will be set up in the missionaries' living room … and the operation done under local anesthetic."
Please pray for the doctors as they perform so many surgeries, and for the missionaries involved: the Stranges, Casteljins and Purcells.
