Missionaries Bill and Donna Davis and Tim and Monica Sharp are making good progress translating Acts into the Palawano language in the Philippines. They're also encouraging the Palawano people to participate in the nation's Buwan ng Wika, "Language Month."
The missionaries and their Palawano helpers are working toward a deadline of mid-August to complete their translation so a language consultant can check Acts in September. With everyone working together on it they're saving time and improving the quality.
This coincides with Language Month, in August. Language Month is sponsored by the governmental Commission on Philippine Languages.
There are writing and oral poetry contests, with cash prizes and T-shirts with the Language Month theme printed on them in the Palawano language. Already several Palawanos are showing interest.
Please pray that the translation will go well. Please also pray that the Language Month events will inspire many Palawano to learn how to read and write, preparing them to be able to read the Bible.
