THANK YOU FOR YOUR FAITHFUL PRAYERS... WE FEEL ALL OF THEM! (November 2, 2008)

1) For Encouragement and Proper Perspective as we continue to wade through the challenges of language school. We are learning to communicate better daily, but the process is mentally exhausting sometimes!

2) That we'd be an encouragement and blessing to our fellow co-workers here in Indonesia.

3) That we would be able to find some different ministries that we can get involved with here (preferably with youth). The language barrier has limited our involvement in many things, but we are longing for ways to be more involved with our church and community!

3) For the SOON and safe arrival of Baby Mikayla and that Melissa would be able to sleep at night amid the discomforts of late pregnancy.

4) For health - the changes in the season (it rains all the time now) have brought sore throats, coughs and fevers to many of our co-workers and us.

5) For provision of a motorcycle for Melissa.

PRAYER REQUEST AND PRAISES (August 24, 2008)

The prayers of the Saints have upheld us during all our transitions and we thank the Lord for each of you and your prayers on our behalf.

Please continue to pray for:

The Helicopter Importation: more paperwork has been submitted and progress is being made, yet it is slow. The final decision rests in the Indonesian officials' hands,  so pray for continued favor with these officials.

Bryan's Testing: In preparation for the arrival of the helicopter, Bryan has to become a certified mechanic in Indonesia. He will be traveling back to Jakarta early September (in the next two weeks), to take 3 tests. While the test are in English, they have been translated from Indonesian, so might be a difficult read. Pray for ready recall of all he has studied and for rapid processing of the papers and licensure afterwards. Also pray that he would be able to balance studying a new language PLUS studying for these licensure exams.

Melissa and the Pregnancy: All is well to date, but Melissa is beginning to experience the same gallbladder-type discomfort she had with Andrew, as well as significant back pain. So pray for perseverance and strength. Also be praying for wisdom as we choose where to deliver and for God's timing in it all. Only 10 weeks to go...

Consistency in dealing with Andrew: He is doing great for all the adjustments, but being busy with studying or not always able to give him 100% attention, it is easy to overlook some behavior issues. So pray for wisdom and consistency as we raise Him to be a godly young man!

Praise the Lord with us for:

Provision of a Good language helper
Good Health - Andrew's allergies totally cleared up within days of you all starting to pray and that without having to give him any medications. Isn't God good?!? Likewise, a few of the other new families here have been having trouble with their stomachs and a few have been battling spider bites. Please pray for them but praise the Lord that we have not had to deal with these distractions.

Opportunities to meet our neighbors and favor with those in our neighborhood

WAYS YOU CAN PARTNER WITH US IN PRAYER (July 10, 2008)

  • We have two more speaking engagements prior to leaving, one Sunday in Missouri and one more on Tuesday. These opportunities have been exciting, but we are tired. Pray that we would finish strong, remain healthy and continue to convey God's heart for the nations!
  • For wisdom in packing. With only five bags allowed, we are having to prioritize what is really important for these next 4 years! Then, pray that all our luggage would arrive safely.
  • Our flight on July 24th is 30 hours in duration. With a 20-month old, this can be a bit of a challenge. Please pray for Andrew, that he would be understanding and tolerate the flight(s) well!
  • Pray for favor for us with the airlines, customs agents, government officials, etc... as we will be encountering many over the next few weeks!
  • Life is busy right now. Please pray that our focus would remain on the Lord and that we would continue to be a blessing and encouragement to all who cross our paths, including our family.
  • And last but not least, be praying for our families during this major transistion.

WAYS YOU CAN PRAY (May 29, 2008)

  • For the arrival of our VISAs. Paperwork has been submitted and is now in the Indonesian government's hand. We cannot buy tickets until the approval comes, so we are simply trusting the Lord to open the doors and give us favor with the Indonesian Government in HIS perfect timing.
  • For the importation of the helicopter. Still awaiting paperwork and approval from the Indonesian Government. Pray for God's timing and Favor from the Indonesian Government.
  • For a healthy baby and safe pregnancy. Currently 17 weeks along, all is well and we should find out if we'll be having a boy or girl in a couple more weeks. We'll keep you posted!
  • That we would keep our eyes on the Lord and remain dependent on Him in the midst of the business of life

HOW YOU CAN BE PRAYING FOR US... (January 14, 2008)

1) For a smooth VISA application to Indonesia and quick governmental approval!

2) For Bryan as he continues to gain experience in the R-44 Helicopter. He is enjoying all the new opportunities he has on the helicopter but is trusting the Lord for assimilation of all the new material he is/has learned and wisdom as he services these aircraft on the field!

3) For Andrew to come to know the Lord as his Savior soon and for wisdom for us as we direct him and train him up in the way he should go!

4) For our Spiritual Growth and that our focus would remain on the Lord amid all the details of preparing to head overseas!

5) For financial provision so we can be at the recommended support level for serving overseas!

6) For the fuel situation in Indonesia. Pilot Daren Spence writes, "[Our fuel supply] is getting quite low and we are asking everyone to pray that the Lord would intervene and soon provide the shipment of AVGAS that was ordered 2 months ago."
