CHRISTMAS IS COMING! (December 9, 2008)
Christmas IS coming and a lot has happened since we last asked you to pray! We have moved back into the Manila Guest House, then into a new apartment (which we absolutely love), Maycie has started crawling, Thanksgiving came and left, and now it's December and Christmas is rapidly approaching! Praise God with us for seeing us through our apartment trials, for giving us a family here to spend Thanksgiving with, for a healthy, happy baby girl, and for a needed break coming up after next week!
LANGUAGE SCHOOL DROP-OUT (December 9, 2008)
No, not really...but we do feel like we'd like to drop out every now and then! Please pray for us and we begin to feel a bit overwhelmed with how much we have learned and have yet to learn. Before we started school, a year and a half seemed like a long time to be studying a language, but the more we are exposed to it, the more it seems like not nearly enough time. Please pray for patience as we get frustrated when we can't speak correctly, diligence in our studies as it is so easy to get sidetracked, and rest as without it, we are useless!
VISITORS! (December 9, 2008)
Praise God with us for our first visitors! We are so thrilled that Brian's mom and dad will be with us for Christmas this year. Although it will still feel a bit sad to not be with the rest of our family, it will be comforting to have them here. Please pray for a safe, uneventful trip here on the 23rd.
WE MOVED IN! (October 3, 2008)
Praise the Lord! We moved into our apartment last Saturday and are loving our own space again! We had been living out of suitcases for 5 1/2 months, so we were ready to move in!
WE SIGNED THE CONTRACT! (September 21, 2008)
After over a month of waiting, "ghost month" ended this week, and our landlord was able to sign our contract and arrange for repairs to be completed so we can move in. Brian painted the main rooms yesterday, and the work crew should be there this week to do the repairs and remodeling that is necessary. Praise the Lord! Things feel like they are moving again!
MOVING FORWARD WITH THE APARTMENT (September 17, 2008)
Please pray for us tonight during our meeting with the landlord to discuss repairs and sign the rental agreement. Once we are done with the contract, we can schedule the work to be accomplished. We are hoping to have it completed in the next week or two. We are just thankful to be able to move forward again now that Ghost Month is over. Find out more --

LANGUAGE STUDY BEGINS (September 15, 2008)
Please pray with us as we enter into a year or more of language and culture study. Our desire is to be able to speak the language fluently enough to be able to have meaningful, deep relationships with our Filipino neighbors in order that we may share Christ with them. This will be a full time job, requiring 8 hours of everyday. Not to mention our other full time job - Maycie! We are going to need all the help we can get!
OUR OWN SPACE! (September 15, 2008)
Please pray that our housing situation would wrap up soon! We have found an apartment, however we are having some issues with our landlady not doing what she needs to be doing so that we can move in. After a over a month of the three of us living one little room, we are ready to be on our own again. I'm sure our neighbors wouldn't mind either when they aren't being woken up in the middle of the night by a screaming baby!
THE GUEST HOUSE (September 15, 2008)
Although we are ready for our own space again, we do want to praise Him for the provisions He's made for us in the meantime. We have been enjoying our time here at the New Tribes Guest House and have been able to get to know so many special people that we wouldn't have otherwise.
WE HAD A GREAT TRIP (August 12, 2008)
Praise the Lord! He answered our prayers about Maycie's cold. She never showed any signs of discomfort on the flight to Manila. The flight was one of the easiest flights we've ever been on, domestic or international. What a blessing! Find out more --

MAYCIE IS FEELING WORSE (August 8, 2008)
Please continue to pray for Maycie. Today she has been very congested and has a low fever. We are praying that she will get over this in the next couple of days. We fly on Sunday night so we want to see her healthy again for the flight.
MAYCIE MAY BE GETTING A COLD (August 7, 2008)
Please pray for Maycie, as she seems to be getting a runny nose. It doesn't seem to bother her, we just worry that if she gets congested it may be a miserable flight for her on Monday.
OUR MOTORCYCLE SOLD! (August 6, 2008)
Praise the Lord! Our motorcycle sold tonight. We got more for it than we expected because the buyer slipped Brian some extra money on top of the agreed upon price to help us on our trip to the Philippines! How often do you have to tell a buyer they are paying you too much? It was such a blessing! Thanks for praying with us.
SAYING "GOOD BYE" (August 5, 2008)
Pray for us this week as we say "good bye" to our family and friends. It is starting to sink in that we really are leaving this weekend. It is exciting and painful all at once.
EMBASSY EXPEDIENCY (July 31, 2008)
It came to our attention yesterday that paperwork we thought was "in the bag" may be delayed at the embassy. They are supposed to be expediting the papers, and sending them in the next couple of days. However, expediting, we have heard sometimes means "in the next 20 days." We do not need the papers to get into the country, only to stay there for more than 21 days. Pray that they come next week! view ALL prayer requests >>
