"There is nothing more tragic or horrible than the desperation of a dying man looking into the dark hopeless certainty of death without a Savior." wrote missionary Nadia Hattingh.
Nadia and her husband Francois along with Phil and Elin Henderson minister to the Mwinka people in Mozambique.
They have been going through some tough times as they study the culture and language of the Mwinkas. With temperatures in the triple digits and battling sickness in both families, the couples are also struggling with the deaths of five Mwinkas in one week.
Nadia visited one man who was facing the possibility of imminent death. He asked Nadia's language helper to take his picture. Looking at it with tears streaming he said, "I am dying; now at least my family will have something to remember me by."
This man is pleading for more than relief from physical suffering. He is going into a dark eternity and he knows it. "How can we who have Christ in us, who live because of His grace alone, not want to sacrifice to make this fact known to a dying, lost world?" Nadia wrote. "Pray for us as we continue daily to take baby steps toward this goal."
Pray for the Hattinghs and Hendersons as they continue to study the culture and language of the Mwinka people. Pray that they will soon be able to teach God's Word to the Mwinkas.
