A Punan believer in Indonesia told missionary Rachel Searcy that they needed to hurry and finish translating the Scriptures so that she and Rachel could take the Gospel message to another people group.
"We have to hurry," Bungon told Rachel. "We have to finish the Punan translation. After that you and I will move to the Bukat people and learn their language."
The Punan believers have long had a burden to reach surrounding tribal groups. In 2003 two groups of believers visited several villages to see if they desired to hear evangelistic Bible lessons. There was a favorable response from some of the villages and the group returned to report that they just needed people to go and finances to send them.
A Punan church planting team tried to teach in one village but discovered that their limited knowledge of the Bukat language would not allow them to effectively share the Gospel.
Bungon now realizes that she needs to learn Bukat in order to teach the Gospel and wants Rachel to help her.
Pray for Rachel and Bungon as they translate Scripture into the Punan language. Pray also that God will provide people to reach the Bukat people with the Gospel.
