GAVIãO EXCITED TO SERVE

June 8, 2009

by Christina Johnson

Although attendance has been dropping at church meetings among the Gavião people in Brazil, missionaries Arnold and Diane Kitchener remain undeterred.

"A young mother about 30-years-old and a grandpa in his mid-fifties have expressed their desire to follow the Lord," Diane wrote. "We aren't sure of the young mother's understanding, but we hope to talk with her."

And while Gaviãos are responding to the Lord, other believers are hard at work serving.

The Gavião believers in the village are excited about the construction for the new church building. Last-minute plans are being made for pricing materials and preparing lists to begin the construction.

"Arnie has been tearing down the wood house [and] everyone is sad to see the old landmark go. It holds a lot of memories," Diane wrote. "But those that will work on the new church building are excited to get going."

Please pray that the Gavião people will be faithful in working on the construction of the new building and that their time of fellowship together will be an example of Christ's love to others who do not believe.
