LOST BOAT TEACHES LESSON

Missionaries Lindy and Carol Drake who work among the Guanano believers in Brazil are rejoicing that their boat, which was lost last week, is now back home.
A man found the boat drifting on a river and thought he could profit from his find. He hid the boat in the jungle with plans to sell it. When he began trying to sell the motor in town, a relative of Guanano believers Moses and Delfina was convinced the motor belonged to Lindy and Carol and informed missionary Barry Spor.
Barry and some of the believers went to the man's home to investigate. The man was not at home, but his father was. The father said they had found a boat but didn't know anything about a motor.
When Delfina began talking with him in his own language, she expressed how sad they were to have lost the boat and motor.
"We are really going to miss the motor," she said. "We are Christians and we used the motor to get back and forth to the church services we have. Without the motor it's going to be hard."
"You mean the motor didn't just belong to this white guy?" the father said. "You guys use the motor too?""
When Delfina said, "Yes," the father replied, "Well, since that's the case I'll tell you the truth. We found the motor too."
He led the group to where the boat and motor were hidden. "The motor had suffered some rust damage from being in the river," the Drakes wrote, "but Barry and Moses broke it down, oiled it up real well, and ran it up and down the river. How happy we are!
"What we thought was lost for good, was restored to us in such an unexpected way. And God did this in the sight of all the Guanano believers. What a lesson for all of us." |
