Daily Scripture

"Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass."

Psalm 37:5

THE REST OF THE STORY

November 10, 2006

by Donna Gibson

Monday, in the Philippines, the schools that suffered the tragic death of a local teacher have finally reopened.

A month ago, when a Filipino school teacher, her husband and two others were ambushed, robbed and killed, the community was left shaken.

The schools shut down indefinitely, all the local teachers went on strike and the Bible teachers, who planned to present the Gospel that very week, were stopped just short of the story of Christ's death.

At last, the children in two of the schools will hear the rest of the story. The Bible teachers will continue the lessons next week. "Many are ready to believe!" wrote Paul and Debbie Howells.

What may seem like a setback, God has turned to good. Now another school, located in a rough area where many murderers live, has invited the Bible teachers to come teach their children as well. The people do not want their children growing up as they have.

"We will start teaching there next Thursday," wrote Paul and Debbie. The missionaries hope that "when the Word is taught in the school, the children will no longer feel the need to bring machetes to school to fight with."

Praise God that this is the seventh school in the area to request Bible teaching. Pray the children will listen attentively to Christ's story next week.
