"Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass."

Psalm 37:5

AMAY INSOY WITH THE LORD

Amay Insoy

November 2, 2006

by Dena McMaster

Amay Insoy, a Higuanon believer in the Philippines, died this week and missionary Paul Howells feels the loss deeply. Insoy was one of the first Higaunon witchdoctors to trust in Christ.

When Paul and Debbie first moved into the tribe, Amay Insoy adopted Paul into his family.

When Paul had to be away in those early days, Amay and his wife Inay would come and stay with Debbie. Inay would sleep inside with Debbie and Amay would sit up all night on the porch, guarding them. Debbie would ask him to come inside and sleep and he would say, "No, Debbie, I will just sit outside here to keep watch."

He took care of and helped Paul and Debbie in many ways. Amay Insoy became like a father to Paul. They spent time together and Paul was privileged to see Amay Insoy grow in the Lord. Amay trusted Christ when he was 74 years old and spent 13 wonderful years growing in Christ. He died this week at 87.

Pray for Paul Howells as he helps bury the second father he has lost in his life. Pray also for the family and Higaunon believers as they grieve the loss of Amay Insoy.
