Bing and Lolly
My parents joined NTM when I was four years old. After finishing missionary training in California, they served on staff there and in Wisconsin.
When I was ten years old, our family went to Brazil. We lived on the Amazon close to the city of Manaus.
After graduating from high school, I stayed in Brazil and worked for a couple of years, taking supplies by boat to missionaries on remote tributaries of the Amazon.
Lolly is from Indiana and was raised on a small dairy farm. Her Dad was a pastor for many years. Their contact with missionaries had an impact on Lolly’s life, and right after high school she went to Bible School and Missionary Training.
We were married in 1972 and served in Brazil until 1999. We worked with the Yanomámi people and later in administrative and leadership roles.
In 1999 we moved to Camdenton, Missouri to begin a ministry of member care to missionary kids. This soon expanded to include care for missionaries and staff and students at NTM’s Missionary Training Center. We moved to Wichita, KS in November of 2008 and will continue our member care ministry.
Children
Leslie was born in Brazil. When we moved into the tribe, she was two years old. Our co-worker’s son, Claudio, was four. They were only together for one year before our co-workers went on furlough. During that time, Claudio’s father passed away and his mom went to work in another ministry. Leslie and Claudio saw each other when Leslie was seventeen and then again in her early twenties. At that time they started dating and got married. They live in Wichita, KS and have two beautiful children, Derek and Karis.
Troy was one year old when we moved into the tribe. He and Leslie spent most of their school years at a Missionary Boarding School on the banks of the Amazon River. After college Troy moved to Wichita, KS. He met Nikki, who had gone to Brazil as a short term missionary. They also have two beautiful children, Julianna and Josiah. In July of 2008 they moved to Brazil where he works for Cessna as a Field Service Engineer. |
