Cathy and I (Barry) met in Canada at the New Tribes Missionary Training Center in Durham, Ontario. We married in 1983 and served our first term at NTM Canadian Headquarters. The next 10 years found us in Thailand studying the Thai National language and then as tribal missionaries among the Northern Pwo Karen people of northwest Thailand. Due to medical reasons we could no longer live in a tribal setting, so from 1999 - 2003 we were once again serving the Lord at the NTM Canada headquarters.
We had no idea that one day the Lord would send us back to Thailand, but He made that possible in 2003. Cathy helps with field administration and I serve as Orientation-Coordinator and National Culture and Language Acquisition Consultant. Welcoming new missionaries to the field; assisting them in their intial transition and then aiding and giving oversight while they learn Thai for their next 2 years.
Presently there is an established and growing Church among the Northern Pwo Karen people. Missionaries have phased out and the tribal church leaders are, under the leading of the Holy Spirit, teaching and reaching out to their own people. We are very thankful to have been able to have a part in that missionary endeavor and we greatly thank all our supporters who pray and give financially enabling us to continue to serve God here in Thailand.
Please keep praying for our Pwo Karen church family that they would continue to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Thank you all so much!
