Did missionary Aaron Luse hear that right? Did one the Patpatar men sitting with him really say, "God is not great"?
Aaron thought he was carefully working through the Bible lesson with the men, but now he wondered why they didn't understand. Had he failed to communicate clearly? A flood of concern entered Aaron's thoughts.
The missionary had thought he had thoroughly covered the characteristics of God's supremacy -- His holiness, His absolute power, and His infinite wisdom. Why did the men sit there scratching their heads?
Then one of them spoke, "You can't say that. God is not great." After a brief pause and the confusing thoughts it generated in Aaron's mind, the man continued. "You need to say that God is very highly super great completely!"
Aaron couldn't hold the smile back as relief and excitement replaced his fears.
"God's truths were penetrating. These men were getting it," he thought.
Please pray for the men who are helping Aaron prepare evangelistic Bible lessons in the Patpatar language of Papua New Guinea. Pray that God's Spirit will work in the hearts of these men who are hearing the Scripture clearly communicated in their language.
