LOSS OPENS DOORS FOR COUPLE

The Lord is giving Garid and Biemba strength to share their faith after their son`s death.

March 17, 2008

by Ian Fallis

Only God can make the end of one story into the beginning of other stories.

Mongolian believers Garid and Biemba suffered the tragic loss of their 11-year-old son early this year. Garid is a student at the Union Bible Training Center in Mongolia. Biemba, his wife, has been employed by NTM Mongolia for 11 years.

"Your brother and sister in Christ have been experiencing the blessings of spiritual growth for the past 10 years, for which we are very thankful," Garid wrote.

"On Jan. 4, 2008 we were shocked by the sudden death of our beloved son Chilugen. … Our hearts frequently question why this happened but we believe that because of Christ, one day we will see each other again. For this we thank the Lord Jesus Christ.

"During the funeral … God miraculously gave us the ability to testify for Him and receive His peace, protection and understanding during that time."

In addition, the death has given them opportunities to talk with others about Jesus.

For example, wrote missionaries Jeremy and Roxy Thiessen, their faith had a huge impact on a friend of theirs who is a priest in the traditional religion of Mongolia.

Their friend asked Garid and Biemba if they wanted him to read from his religion's books for them. "They were able to tell him that was not necessary because of their belief in Jesus and their hope in the fact that their son was in Heaven," Jeremy and Roxy wrote.

"The priest commented that he had started out being a priest so that he could help people. Now he is a priest mainly for the money. He told them that he was impressed that they really lived out what they believed and did."

Pray that their friend will be drawn to the God he sees in the couple.

Please pray for Garid and Biemba and their remaining son and daughter as they continue to deal with Chilugen's death. "We each sit quietly and remember all the precious times that we had with him," Garid wrote. "Love gives us courage and strength to keep going."

Pray also that God directs Garid to what He wants Garid to do after college.
