BAGWIDOS 'HAVE NEVER HEARD TALK LIKE THIS BEFORE'

Brian and Mark are carefully explaining God`s message to their Bagwido friends.

January 21, 2008

by Patrick Hatcher

The Bagwido people in Papua New Guinea are responding in amazing ways to evangelistic Bible lessons they received this past week.

Missionary Brian Holmquist taught six of the 70 lessons, covering a short history of the world, a timeline of Creation until now, who God is, how He created angels to be His helpers, and the first six days of Creation.

After hearing only a small portion of the Bible lessons, the Bagwido people are responding to the Good News. "What do you think about what you just heard?" Mark asked.

Lainus, a young man, just shook his head as he looked at all he saw around him and said, "One day. One day. One day is all it took for Him to make all this and what I can't even see … I don't talk these days. I just go sit quietly in my house and mull over what I am hearing."

Missionary Brian Holmquist asked the people "How can God do this? How can He make all these things?" A young man named Sepi replied, "Because He is the Papa-Owner."

Another man asked "You mean before the years even started, God was there? Wow. We have never heard talk like this before."

Later in the week, a man named Bonipas sat on Mark Woodard's porch as they ate pineapple. Bonipas said "Wow, Mark, this is good talk. My inner being is happy with this talk. But we are just in the beginning. When are we going to get the ending talk?"

God is clearly working in hearts among the Bagwido people. Pray that the tribe continues to accept the Gospel so they will place their faith in Christ.
