Daily Scripture

"Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness."

Psalm 37:3

JUST THE BEGINNING

These graduates will be ministering to tribes all over the world.

June 7, 2007

by Donna Gibson

These are exciting days for the 211 graduates of NTM's Bible and missionary training facilities as they seek God's leading for the next step in their journey.

After devoting two years of their lives to studying God's Word in-depth, 144 people graduated last month from the New Tribes Bible Institutes in Jackson, Michigan, and Waukesha, Wisconsin.

Now they face the decision: What does God want me to do with what I've learned? Some will boldly walk with God in the workplace. Others will put their faith to work in a church ministry.

And many will seek to acquire the specialized training NTM offers so they can take part in expanding the reach of the Gospel to the most remote places of the globe.

That same weekend, 67 others walked the aisle to receive their degrees at the New Tribes Missionary Training Center in Camdenton, Missouri. As brand new missionaries they look ahead, trusting God to work out every detail so they may serve Him wherever He leads.

With more than 3,000 tribal groups still without the Gospel in their own language, there is no shortage of opportunities for new missionaries seeking to serve God.

"The needs are overwhelming!" wrote new missionary Heather Gordy. "I am just one person, so deciding where to go has been a big decision."

She wrote the NTM field leadership in Senegal and they have gladly welcomed her. "I am excited to work with a great team of missionaries and gracious leadership that is solid yet open to new ideas," she wrote.

"Pray that the Lord will continue to prepare me for all the details ahead, some of which can be very scary. Thank the Lord that He accomplishes all He desires through us and we do not have to rely on our own strength. Aaahh, so nice to trust Him."

"To see people come to a place where they realize that they are forgiven and in a right relationship with God -- that is our burning passion," wrote Dean and Elizabeth Weed. "We are totally excited to see how we can be used to take the Gospel to souls that have never had the privilege to hear!"

They hope to serve as Dorm Parents at NTM's school for missionaries' children in Papua New Guinea. "It's an extreme ministry," they wrote, "and an opportunity to bless and be blessed."

Brian and Bailey Pruett are traveling this summer, spending time with family and friends and sharing about their desire to meet an urgent need for missionary pilots in the Philippines.

In August they plan to begin flight training with the NTM Aviation program in McNeal, Arizona. "We are so excited about this move," they wrote. "It is the beginning of what we have been training so long to do.

Pray that God will work out the logistics and raise up a community of believers to partner with these new missionaries in bringing the Gospel to tribal people around the world.

Pray also for the Bible school graduates that they will have a courageous faith, taking all they've learned and living it out no matter the cost.
