CALM BEFORE THE STORM

Tropical Storm Fay

Tropical Storm Fay

August 18, 2008

Calm before the storm? More like storm before the storm!

If you’re in or near Florida, you’re keeping a wary eye on the monster Tropical Storm Fay. But really, that's just one of many concerns for Kristi and I right now.

I was hoping to write a good report about how your prayers are being answered and Alex's daytime seizures have lessened again. But then she had a full seizure right after supper tonight! So that continues to be a huge prayer request. I was amazed, though, that we were able to work together on her math homework only 30 minutes later -- so that’s a praise!

Kristi has been on call for almost a week now -- and in and out of the Winnie Palmer Hospital over the past two full days to help a client deliver her first baby. Kristi is hoping for a safe delivery in the next couple hours so she’ll be able to come home sometime tonight -- especially with Tropical Storm Fay coming our way from just South of Tampa.

My main concern with Fay is the high chance of multiple tornados in our area tomorrow. Plywood that used to be on the sides of our trailer can now be used to cover windows on our house. But the neighbors haven’t boarded up yet, and they've been in the area a lot longer than us!

So please pray for wisdom and safety through the storm, pray for Kristi's perseverance at the hospital and for Alex's seizures.

To close this email on a positive note, I’m really excited about a development at our NTM offices today. You probably already know that our website is just one of more than 400 missionary websites that I’ve developed with our Communications team. Well as of today, we are beginning a project to enable these missionaries with websites to publish their updates as personalized e-mail newsletters!

The system will use professional templates like you’ve seen from us, and it’ll also be database-driven to allow personal messages to be sent to hundreds if not thousands of friends, families and churches. This is so exciting especially in this day and age where technology can take us to the ends of the earth to be involved with what God is doing there!

Thanks to all of you who are praying for us and our ministry and who support us financially. Together we are part of the team to see tribal men, women and children have a personal relationship with Christ.
