A few days before Christmas, as they were putting their daughters to bed, the Housleys noticed a lot of traffic on the trail beneath their house. They said "good night" to a lot of people and received the Inapangs' evening greeting in return. After about the fourth group, the Housleys jokingly asked, "Are you guys having a party up there at the next hamlet?"
"Yeah," the people laughed, "We're going to have a singsing."
The Housleys' curiosity got the best of them and they headed up the hill to see what was going on. They saw a group of about 50 people who had gathered to sing songs of praise to the Papa, Yawe Ngot -- Father Yahweh God. The people were sitting in a large circle in the middle of the hamlet, under the light of a bright moon singing together and stopping to teach each other the words before singing again.
"As the moonlight fell on our little circle and the fires outlined the huts there," wrote Kelley, "I looked around and thought, 'I wouldn't trade this for anything on this earth -- to be here in this holiday season, rejoicing with the fruits of hard labor and worshipping with these sweet brothers and sisters in this little [Inapang] village.'"
