UPDATE ON ALEX'S SEIZURES

"Grace tried is better than grace, and it is more than grace, it is glory in its infancy." - Samuel Rutherford (1600-1664)

Yes, Alex's daily seizures have not slowed down -- she even had one while sitting at her desk in school last week. But your prayers for her are being answered, especially those prayers for wisdom.

Our recent trip to the pediatric neurologist's office gave us lots of options and helped the doctors and Kristi and I to map out a plan to further help Alex. Specifically, instead of changing medication dosages or timings, we decided to increase the frequency of the electrical shocks administered by her implanted VNS device. This should help by stimulating her brain to be more regulated while also increasing her threshold for avoiding seizure activity.

It might sound a little scary, but the VNS device has been proven very effective in reducing seizures.

Also, since Alex hasn't had a CT scan or EEG in a while, the doctors decided to schedule those tests along with another overnight monitoring session. These tests will give us a better idea of how Alex's brain is developing and if the source or nature of her seizures have changed in any way.

So please continue praying for wisdom (according to James 1:5) ... and we'll let you know how God continues to lead us through the process. He is so worthy of our praise, and Alex's health continues to bless us with opportunities to glorify Him at evry turn. His grace is sufficient.
