Missionaries Mark Woodard and Brian Holmquist are facing many interruptions and distractions as they teach evangelistic lessons to the Bagwido people of Papua New Guinea [map].
"A couple of days ago [the village] was hit with the biggest windstorm they have ever had," Mark wrote. "In the middle of the night, houses were shaking and a few blew over or lost parts of their roofs, siding, etc."
Beside the weather, a unique chance for monetary gain has also stolen the village's focus. "Three days ago an Indonesian buyer arrived saying he would like to buy a certain kind of tree bark from the people in the area," Mark wrote. "This proved to be a huge distraction … everyone abandoned work on the teaching house, and their other responsibilities, to go harvest this bark and sell it."
And other interruptions have plagued the missionaries, too. Brian Holmquist's wife, Andrea, "had a fairly severe allergic reaction to some medicine … and then we found that our freezer has quit working," wrote Mark.
Please pray for each man woman and child in the Bagwido tribe -- that they would overcome problems and distractions to hear evangelistic Bible lessons in their own language. And pray that missionaries Mark Woodard and Brian Holmquist would be able to focus clearly on the ministry and teaching in the tribe.
