I think you'll appreciate this perspective, from our pastor in Nebraska: ________________________________________
Well, as McCain said, "The people have spoken."
The question facing the people of God is, "What now?"
All over the country people are disappointed with the outcome of the presidential election. Some are grieving. Others are expressing fear, or anger.
So, what now?
All that has really happened is that our prayer focus for the next four years has gained a little more definition.
Psalm 20 contains a good reminder for us:
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses (and some in Presidents, or Supreme Courts, or laws), but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. (Psalm 20:7)
And Job reminds us,
[God] makes nations great, and destroys them; He enlarges nations, and guides them. (Job 12:23)
Daniel said this,
Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His. And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings (Daniel 2:20-21)
Is God afraid? Of course not! Did this election surprise Him? Not at all.
If you are facing fear, or uncertainty this morning, then in the love of Christ I say to you that it isn't coming from the Spirit of God. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (First Timothy 1:7).
You must choose today how you will respond as the election is discussed. Will you be among those who are fearful, unhappy, and uncertain? Or will you lift your own eyes to the throne of God, where Jesus still sits and reigns, and be a source of hope to those around you because of the faith that resonates within your soul?
Let's stand in faith!
