NOKEE'S MISDIRECTED SEARCH

Missionary Linda Krieg and Siawis hear Bible lessons

July 30, 2004

Though he professes to believe in Christ's death for him, Nokee is searching for the way to get material gain the easy way.

Nokee has been missionary Linda Krieg's right-hand man, helping her to translate the Scriptures into the Siawi language. Several months ago he gave Linda a note asking her to disclose the hidden way to get things from dead men.

The cargo cult, which is prevalent in much of Papua New Guinea, teaches that the spirits of dead men send material things to those who know how to get them.

Nokee is searching for the secret. He says he is tired of working and wants to find the way to get "cargo" without working hard.

Last week Nokee gave Linda another note. He said that since she didn't tell him what he wanted to know he is going to move to another village and sit under the teaching of a different religious group to see if they will reveal the secret.

Linda and her co-workers Tom and Danielle Brendle and Jason and Shannon Swanson have heavy hearts because of Nokee's misdirected thinking.

Pray that Nokee will come to know Christ fully and find true contentment in Him.
