"It's full steam ahead for translation," wrote missionary Lisa Kappeler after her evaluation by a team of missionaries experienced in church planting and translation principles.
The team challenged and encouraged the missionaries working among the Uriai people of Papua New Guinea and Lisa was officially approved to begin translating God's Word into the Uriai language.
"They spurred us on to dive deeper into the way that our folks view the spiritual realm," wrote Lisa, "and gave us insight as to the best plan for the Uriai church."
M'Liss Spero and Elias and Jose Struik also showed progress in their language capabilities. The newest team members, Tim and Bekka Peterson, have now begun culture and language study. They reported that the team of experienced missionaries were a blessing and gave a huge boost of excitement and passion for reaching the Uriai people.
The Petersons will attempt to experience as much culture as possible by spending time with the people as they cook, eat, hunt or gather food. They are excited to be living among the Uriais and learning to communicate with them.
Pray for God's wisdom and insight as Lisa begins translating. Pray also for the other team members as they continue to learn the culture and language of the Uriai people. Pray that God will prepare the hearts of the Uriais to receive God's Word when it is presented.
