As missionary Tom Brendle finished teaching about Abraham and Isaac the room grew quiet. The silence reigned for a few seconds that seemed like hours. Then Alex spoke.
"Isaac didn't die. God provided an exchange for him. Where is our exchange?" he said.
Tom's heart was thrilled that Alex saw his own sinfulness and his need, that he realized he also needed an exchange.
The Siawis are listening and understanding.
Tom's co-worker Jason Swanson was also encouraged as he talked with Kwaelom.
Kwaelom shared how his wife, Mese, and daughter, Kofele, were talking about the lesson when Kofele said, "Mom, that is not what God's Word says." Kofele then turned to the passage in Genesis and read it to her mom and they continued to talk about it.
"What a breakthrough!" Tom wrote. "Not only are the ladies hearing and talking about the lesson and understanding, they are basing that understanding on God's Word."
Praise God that Genesis and 50 percent of the New Testament is available to the Siawis. Pray for translator Linda Krieg as she continues to translate Scripture, and for the Siawis to trust in Christ and His Word.
