The tribal missionaries in remote places in Papua New Guinea depend heavily on the missionary pilots, supply buyers, finance personnel and others who meet their needs while they continue in their tribal ministry.
So Aaron and Meredith DeRidder who have worked among the Uriai people since 2003 responded when they were recently asked to fill the critical need for a business manager for the missionaries.
"After some correspondence and prayer we decided that the Lord would be most honored by our willingness to go wherever we're needed most," wrote Aaron.
"While not returning to the Uriais remains difficult to swallow, the Lord has given us excitement about being part of the Sepik support team. [When we ministered] in the Uriais we depended on our support missionaries in so many ways."
Elias and Jose Sruik and Lisa Kappeler will continue to minister among the Uriai people. They are currently studying the culture and language in preparation for teaching evangelistic Bible lessons to the Uriai people.
Aaron and Meredith had some concerns about their furniture and some personal goods that remain in their home in an Uriai village but God went before them and provided a home. A missionary family going on home assignment has offered to let them live in their home and use all their furniture and kitchen supplies for the next year so they can immediately begin their ministry.
Pray for Aaron and Meredith as they meet this critical logistical need. Pray also for the Sruiks and Lisa as they continue to study culture and language. Pray too that God will prepare Uriai hearts to hear the Gospel message and trust Christ.
