The Mibu people paid close attention as their own Bible teachers and missionaries Joey Tartaglia and Geoff Husa taught the key Old Testament stories last week.
The Bible teachers are taking their job seriously. One of the teachers recently asked how many countries had the Bible and how many had Christians. He was sobered by the answer he received.
"When you guys are done here," he declared, "don't worry about going to the other tribes here in [Papua New Guinea]. We'll get them all! You white people go to these other places that we can't get to."
"Such zealousness is fun to see," wrote missionary Chris Walker, "and very contagious."
Those assisting Chris with Bible translation are also showing a passion in their work. Two of the men who attended a translation workshop with Chris in April are now teaching other potential translation helpers.
"The teachers took this initiative themselves," wrote Chris.
The two men have about a dozen students, mostly representatives of all the surrounding languages.
"The idea is that those from other languages want to be involved in translating from the Mibu language into their respective languages," Chris wrote. "The desire for God's Word is great and it's incredible to see the people taking as much initiative as they can to see it happen."
Pray for Chris as he is currently translating Acts into the Mibu language. And pray that more Mibus will respond as Joey, Geoff and the Bible teachers present the Gospel
