MADANG, Papua New Guinea: Missionaries are excited that another group of Mibus are hearing the Gospel for the first time, and equally excited about the growth and maturity in the lives of Mibu Bible teachers.
Geoff Husa and seven Mibu men, training to be Bible teachers, began evangelistic teaching in another village last week. The teachers were disappointed when only 65 of the 100 people in the village showed up for the teaching.
The missionaries thought 65 was a good number since some of the people had made the trip every other week to hear the Bible lessons when they were first presented to the Mibus. But the teachers had greater expectations.
One night, the teachers were in their huts discussing the day's teaching. They decided that they needed to pray that God would get everyone's attention and that more would show up. They prayed and the next day 100 people were at the meeting.
Another night, Geoff sat with the teachers and began sharing Bible lessons from Acts that are being taught to the Mibu believers. The teachers were awestruck when they heard about the Holy Spirit. They broke into song and praise, and were too excited to sleep until well into the night.
Pray for the Bible teachers and the young Mibu church as they learn about God's work in the early church and how it relates to them. The book of Acts answers many of the questions the people are asking.
Pray too that the missionary team of Chris and Angie Walker, Joey and Brooke Tartaglia and Geoff and Shannon Husa will continue to communicate God's Word clearly as they translate Scripture and teach the believers.
