About 200 individuals -- nearly the entire adult population of two villages -- have given a clear testimony that Christ has died in their place for their sins.
As missionaries wrapped up five months of evangelistic Bible teaching last week in the two Mibu villages, there was no sudden mass profession of faith the missionaries had hoped for after the presentation of Jesus' death, burial and resurrection. Instead there was a steady stream of Mibus expressing their faith in Christ.
The missionaries were kept busy during the week as the people wanted to talk long after each day's teaching session, and when the missionaries arrived back home they found people waiting on their porches, wanting to talk more. Some people even showed up at the missionaries' homes as early as 6 a.m. to talk before the meetings.
"God is doing an awesome work, and now we can't wait to see what God is going to do with this new church in Mibu," wrote missionary Chris Walker.
The first thing they will teach the new believers is eternal security. Some Mibus have already expressed concern in this area.
Missionaries will review their previous teaching with a special focus on the sufficiency of Christ's death. After that, there will be teaching through the book of Acts before progressing through the epistles.
The first meeting of the Mibu believers will be next Sunday morning. And the believers are excited about it, continually talking about their new lives as God's "called out ones."
