TESTIMONIES SHOW BELIEF AMONG INANBIMALIS

Lucas has trusted Christ because he knows the message came from God.

May 20, 2008

by Jackie Fallis

Testimonies from the Inanbimali people this week demonstrated the changes going on in their hearts.

Lawrence, one of the tribal fathers to missionaries Brooks and Nina Buser, told them what he is teaching his other children at night. "Before your mother and I would sit around at night and talk about those ancestor stories, but those have no use to us now. We only tell them what is true, we are getting their heads ready so that they can think clearly about the Bridge-man and what He did for them. Only that is of value."

One of the most powerful men in the tribe, Lucas, spoke with Brooks. "Eldest white son, I have been evaluating this talk in my head for two weeks now. I believe that this talk is true only because it did not come from the mouths of men, it came from God. I am not long to walk this ground, so this talk is heavy in my ears (weighs on his mind.) I will not go without knowledge. No, I will go knowing Who I will see, and knowing what He requires for me to live on His side."

Max, an older tribal brother to Brooks, said, "I know my outside that people see is clean, but God does not look at the outside of the pot. He sees the inside. If that is so then He must know the inside things that I cover and hide. I fear this One that can look inside me and evaluate me like that."

Others understand that God's Word is important, but are torn between their old beliefs and the new teaching. Kevin, an Inanbimali uncle to Brooks, said, "I am evaluating this talk in my head and I know it to be true. But the sago that I was raised with is still there, and I am finding it very hard to turn my back and eat this new sago when the old is still there. How can a man eat two different sagos at once? No, he can only eat one. How will I leave my old sago?"

Please pray for the believers to grow stronger, and for those still struggling with the decision to place their faith in Christ alone.
