INANBIMALIS RESPONDING TO GOD'S WORD

Pray that the Inanbimali people will realize they need the Savior.

April 25, 2008

by Patrick Hatcher

The Inanbimali people of Papua New Guinea have heard evangelistic Bible teaching for nine weeks.

In week number nine, the teaching is intensifying toward the revelation that Jesus is the one and only sacrifice needed to pay the sin debt.

Here are some of the lessons taught, with responses from the tribe:

John the Baptist declared, "Behold the lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world." Job, one of the Inanbimali men close to Brooks Buser, said, "If you go all the way back to Cain and Abel, Abraham and Isaac, in the Passover and the sacrificial system of the Israelites you see that those sheep sacrificed only blocked your sin for a short time until you sinned again and then had to sacrifice again, and over and over again. I think that Jesus is the last lamb to be sacrificed and there will never be a need to sacrifice a lamb again."

John beheaded, Disciples called, and Jesus teaching in the synagogue and having a discussion with the Pharisees and Sadducees. Several Inanbimali people said in response, "We have a lot of chest beaters (Pharisees) here in [the tribe]."

Nicodemus came to Jesus at night to discuss Jesus teaching. This includes John 3:14-18 Andrew, another Inanbimali man, stood up publicly in the meeting and told everyone that he believed this talk was true and only true, that everyone needed to sit and listen to the whole talk before making a decision about whether it was true or not.

Margaret, an Inanbimali woman, said: "This talk is very sweet to me and it is true and only true, the other religious leaders who teach us, they tell us mostly lies and in fact they don't even know what they are talking about."

The paralyzed man whose friends lowered him through the roof to Jesus. The Inanbimalis really connected with this story and the fact that Jesus was more concerned with the state of the man's insides first and then secondly he healed him.

Sita said, "This is a really sweet story. God took care of what was most important first [the mans sick insides] and then he also healed the man physically to show everyone there that He really was the Son of God."

Missionary Tony Sutton wrote, "There are a whole lot more people realizing they are lost in and of themselves after this week and we are praising God, for that is where they need to be before they can receive God's free gift of salvation.

"Pray also for the chest beaters, who think they can follow the law or a good lifestyle and that it will get them to God's side."
